Oil & Gas Defoamers & Foam Control Solutions

defoamer in oil & gas

High-performance Oil & Gas Defoamers are critical components in down-, mid-, and upstream operations. From drilling and cementing to refining and transportation, controlling foam is essential to maintain efficiency and protect equipment. This guide covers the key applications where our defoamers and antifoams deliver superior performance.

Critical Applications: From Drilling to Refining

Oil and gas operations involve extreme conditions. INVINO provides specialized solutions tailored for High Temperature, High Pressure (HTHP), and severe chemical environments.

Upstream: Drilling & Cementing Solutions

INVINO provides specialized solutions tailored for High Temperature, High Pressure (HTHP) environments found in deep-well operations.

⛏️

Drilling Fluids & Muds

⚠️ Challenge: Gas influx (CO2/H2S) & Geological Heat

In water-based or oil-based muds, foam reduces pump efficiency and risks blowout. Our defoamers remain stable deep underground without affecting mud rheology.

Cementing Operations

⚠️ Challenge: High Shear Mixing (12,000 rpm)

Air bubbles in cement slurry create cavities, weakening the wellbore structure. INVINO defoamers withstand extreme shear during mixing to ensure high compressive strength concrete.

Midstream: Separation & Treatment

💧

Oil-Gas Separation

Rapid pressure drops cause dissolved gas to expand, leading to "foaming over" and crude loss. Our agents provide instant knockdown to improve separator throughput and measurement accuracy.

✓ Fast Knockdown ✓ Improve Efficiency

Amine Units (Desulfurization)

Amine units (MDEA/DEA) are prone to tower flooding due to hydrocarbon contamination. We offer specialized amine-compatible antifoams that will not poison downstream catalysts.

Delayed Coking

At extreme temperatures (490°C+), foam carryover blocks overhead lines. Our specialized non-silicone solutions are designed to survive thermal cracking conditions in the coke drum.

Technical FAQ for Oilfield Foam Control

Q: How do you handle defoamer stability at high temperatures (over 400°C)?
For extreme environments like Delayed Coking, standard silicones may degrade. INVINO formulates with specialized high-viscosity silicone fluids and thermal stabilizers that maintain chemical structure and efficacy even at temperatures exceeding 400°C to 490°C.
Q: Will the defoamer affect the catalyst in my Amine Unit?
This is a critical concern. In gas scrubbing (desulfurization), we recommend our specific Polyether-Modified Silicone or non-silicone series. These are designed to be chemically inert towards amine solvents and downstream catalysts, preventing poisoning or fouling.
Q: Can your defoamer withstand high-shear mixing in cementing?
Yes. Cement slurries are mixed at very high speeds (up to 12,000 rpm). Our High-Shear Stability defoamers are formulated with tight emulsions that resist breaking under mechanical stress, ensuring the cement density remains within specification.

Maximize Well Productivity with Field-Proven Solutions

Don't let extreme temperatures or high pressure compromise your operation. INVINO delivers HTHP-stable, high-shear resistant defoamers designed to optimize drilling fluids, cementing, and refining efficiency.
