Project Description

Oil & Gas Defoamers & Foam Control Solutions

Foam is a problem across the whole oil & gas chain — upstream drilling, midstream gas-liquid separation, and downstream refining. It restricts fluid transfer, slows pumping, and can cause equipment overflow. Controlling it takes defoamers that survive extreme high-temperature, high-pressure (HTHP) conditions and sour gas (CO₂ / H₂S) without breaking down.

INVINO® makes silicone copolymers, fluoro-silicone fluids, and non-silicone defoamers for drilling mud, amine (MDEA/DEA) desulfurization towers, and high-heat delayed coking drums. They keep full interface coverage to improve phase separation, protect equipment, and avoid downstream catalyst poisoning.

Critical Applications: From Drilling to Refining

Silicone, fluoro-silicone, and non-silicone grades matched to each stage of the oil & gas chain.

1. Drilling Fluids & Muds

The Problem: Gas influx (CO₂/H₂S) and downhole heat make water- or oil-based muds foam, hurting lubrication. Our grades stay active downhole without changing mud rheology.

Drilling Fluids Safe
2. Cementing Slurries

The Problem: High-shear batch mixing (up to 12,000 rpm) whips air into cement slurry and weakens the casing. Our defoamers hold up under that shear for full density.

High Density Secured
3. Amine Desulfurization

The Problem: Amine units (MDEA/DEA) flood and lose solvent when hydrocarbons cause foam. Our grades stay compatible and speed gas release without poisoning catalyst.

Anti-Flooding
4. Delayed Coking

The Problem: In coke drums above 490°C, foam can carry over and clog vapor lines. Our non-silicone grades survive the heat and improve drum utilization.

490°C Thermal Stable

Technical FAQ for Oilfield Foam Control

Q: How do you keep the defoamer stable at high temperatures (over 400°C)?

A: Standard dimethyl silicone breaks down at coking temperatures and forms silicon scale in the lines. Our downstream grade INVINO-1062 uses a high-stability non-silicone aromatic chemistry that vaporizes cleanly without leaving black solid residue.

Q: Will the defoamer affect the catalyst in my amine unit?

A: No. Low-end products carry surfactants that can pass downstream and blind catalyst beds. INVINO-820C dissolves cleanly in MDEA and stays inert to downstream platinum/palladium catalysts.

Q: Can your defoamer withstand high-shear mixing in cementing?

A: Yes. High-speed wellhead batch mixing creates heavy foam that lowers cure density. Our polyether grade INVINO-8081 stays active under intense shear (up to 12,000 rpm) without breaking down.
