Fatty Alcohol Defoamer — Silicone-Free Antifoam for Paper Machine & Pulp Processing | INVINO®
Non-Silicone Deaerator for Wet-End White Water & Brownstock Washing Loops
INVINO® fatty alcohol defoamers are silicone-free emulsion antifoaming agents designed for foam suppression and entrained air removal in paper machine wet-end white water systems and kraft pulp brownstock washing. Unlike organosilicone alternatives, fatty alcohol defoamers contain no silicone fluid or siloxane compounds — eliminating the risk of silicone oil spots on the paper web and making them fully compatible with AKD and rosin sizing systems. They are the standard choice for sensitive paper grades, food-contact packaging board, and specialty liners where silicone contamination is unacceptable.
INVINO fatty alcohol defoamers suppress surface macro-foam and accelerate the escape of micro-bubbles trapped in fiber stock — both are critical for preventing pinholes and uneven sheet formation. Key performance characteristics: no deposits on machine felts or wire sections due to high water-dispersibility; three grades covering 35–60°C to match different white water loop temperatures; and dosage as low as 0.05–0.3 kg per metric ton of air-dry paper. All grades are Halal certified and REACH SVHC compliant.

| Product Grade | Appearance | Solid Content (%) | pH | Key Performance Characteristics | Documents |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| INVINO-5030 | White Emulsion | 30.0 ± 1.0 | 6.0–7.0 | Operating range 35–45°C. Standard paper machine wet-end white water closed-loops. Controls surface macro-foam and entrained micro-air to prevent sheet pinholes and uneven formation. | TDS / SDS |
| INVINO-5045 | White Emulsion | 30.0 ± 1.0 | 6.0–7.0 | Operating range 40–55°C. Elevated-temperature white water loops with high recycling rates. Sustained bubble suppression in closed-circuit high-consistency stock systems. | TDS / SDS |
| INVINO-5060 | White Emulsion | 30.0 ± 1.0 | 6.0–7.0 | Operating range 50–60°C. High-temperature paper mill backwater circuits. Maintains emulsion phase stability under aggressive thermal conditions in kraft and recycled fiber mills. | TDS / SDS |
Performance Comparison: INVINO-5045 vs. Competitor Fatty Alcohol Defoamers
Foam Knockdown Speed in Paper Machine White Water at 45°C
- Equipment: Recirculating gas-induction cylinder calibrated for continuous white water slurry foam generation.
- Test Medium: White water extracted from a linerboard recycled fiber mill backwater circuit.
- Preparation: Fill a 500 mL graduated cylinder with 200 mL of paper mill white water. Set and hold temperature at 45°C throughout the test.
- Foam Generation: Run the gas induction loop until the foam layer reaches the 250 mL mark.
- Defoamer Addition: Add exactly one calibrated drop of the test fatty alcohol defoamer to the foam surface.
- Observation: Record the time for the foam layer to recede back to baseline. Shorter time = faster knockdown.
- Maintain constant temperature across all test batches to prevent ambient variation from distorting results.
- Use second-by-second monitoring to capture true knockdown persistence — not just initial collapse speed.
Fatty Alcohol Defoamer Quality Certifications & Compliance
ISO 9001:2015, Halal & REACH Standards
Every INVINO fatty alcohol defoamer batch is manufactured under ISO 9001:2015 quality management protocols and verified against chemical purity, safety, and regulatory compliance standards. The following certifications and third-party reports are available for review before order commitment — all documents can be downloaded from our certifications page.
- Halal Certified: Product batches satisfy Halal registry requirements, supporting export entry for regional markets and food-contact packaging supply chains.
- REACH SVHC Compliant: Third-party audits verify compliance with EU REACH Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) regulations — 241 substances screened.
- Heavy Metal Monitored: ICP-MS analysis confirms heavy metal trace levels remain below international processing thresholds for paper and food-contact applications.
- Microbiologically Screened: Batch purity testing confirms absence of bio-fouling agents, suitable for high-speed mills sensitive to organic contamination.
- Food Contact Statement: Material safety validation files supporting direct food-contact paperboard and packaging configurations are maintained and available on request.
Frequently Asked Questions — Fatty Alcohol Defoamer for Pulp & Paper
Request a Sample or Technical Consultation
Submit your process parameters below — our application engineers will identify the correct fatty alcohol defoamer grade and arrange a free evaluation sample. Responses within 24 business hours.
Process Conditions
Note your white water temperature, system pH, wire speed, and recycling rate before selecting a grade. These four variables determine which INVINO grade is correct for your system.
Compatibility Check
Confirm compatibility with your sizing system (AKD or rosin) and retention aids. Run a small cylinder trial with your actual white water before full dosing pump introduction — this prevents sheet defects caused by unexpected chemical interaction.
Dosage Guidance
Start at 0.05 kg per metric ton of air-dry paper and increase gradually under on-site monitoring. For high-recycling closed-loop systems, dosage typically settles at 0.1–0.2 kg/ton. Contact our engineers if foam persists at normal dosage — the cause is usually a process variable change, not dosage volume.
