High-Temperature Overflow Dyeing Defoamer

Foam control is a long-standing challenge in the textile printing and dyeing industry, especially within high-temperature processes like overflow dyeing. The combination of elevated temperatures, vigorous circulation, and complex chemical auxiliaries creates ideal conditions for foam generation, which is often frequent and difficult to manage.

Traditional defoaming agents may struggle under these demanding conditions. Specialized high-temperature defoamers are essential. These advanced antifoams not only solve critical foam problems but also improve production efficiency and fabric quality. INVINO offers tailored solutions.

Limitations of Ordinary Defoaming Agents in High Temperatures

Standard defoaming agents often fail in high-temperature environments because:

  • Poor Stability: They may decompose or lose effectiveness at typical overflow dyeing temperatures (>100°C).
  • Demulsification & Deposits: Prone to breaking down (demulsification) under high temperature and shear, leading to oil slicks, silicone spots, or other residues on fabric.
  • Difficult Dispersion: May not disperse effectively or quickly enough in the hot dye bath.

Essential Characteristics of High Temperature Overflow Defoamers

To perform reliably, antifoams for high temperature processes like overflow dyeing must possess specific properties:

  • Excellent Temperature Resistance: Must remain stable and effective at temperatures exceeding 130°C, with a high flash point. This is the core requirement for a high temperature defoamer.
  • Shear Stability: Withstand the intense mechanical shear forces within overflow dyeing machines without breaking down.
  • Broad pH Stability: Maintain performance across a range of acidic and alkaline conditions common in different dyeing processes. Good heat resistance and acid/alkali resistance are crucial.
  • Good Compatibility: Compatible with various dyeing auxiliaries (surfactants, electrolytes, etc.) without causing precipitation or affecting dye performance.
  • Low Residue & Non-Spotting: Minimal impact on fabric feel and appearance; specifically formulated to prevent silicone spots or oil stains.
  • Persistence: Provide effective foam control throughout the entire dyeing cycle.

Q&A: No More Silicone Spots in Jet Dyeing

Q: I'm terrified of "Silicone Spots." Will this product ruin my fabric?
Silicone spots happen when cheap defoamers "break" under pressure. The oil separates and sticks to the fabric like glue. We specifically formulated this product to be "High-Shear Stable." It's designed to survive the extreme turbulence of the jet nozzle without breaking down into grease balls, keeping your fabric clean and safe.
Q: My machine runs at 130°C. Can it handle the heat?
Absolutely. This is an HTHP (High Temp High Pressure) grade. Ordinary antifoams work fine at 60°C but turn into a mess at 130°C. Ours stays stable and emulsified right through the boiling point and cooling phase, preventing that nasty "scum" from forming on the machine walls.
Q: Can I dump it directly into the dye tank?
Please don't. That's how accidents happen. Even the best defoamer can shock the system if added pure into hot water. Always Pre-dilute it with 3-5 times cool water in the side tank first. Stir it gently, then feed it into the machine. This ensures it disperses instantly and evenly.
Q: Will it clog the filter screens or nozzles?
No. Clogging comes from sticky precipitates (oligomers mixed with broken silicone). Because our emulsion is Self-Dispersing and doesn't react with the dyes or oligomers, it passes freely through the filters. You won't have to stop the machine to scrape gunk off the screens.
Q: How much is enough? Is more better?
Less is safer. You typically only need 0.1g/L to 0.3g/L. Overdosing is the #1 cause of spotting issues. You just need enough to stop the pump from cavitating (sucking air) and the fabric from floating. Don't try to kill every single bubble on the surface; just control the foam inside.
