Project Description

Adhesive Antifoams for Industrial Applications

Adhesive manufacturing often involves foam-related challenges, especially in water-based adhesive production. At INVINO®, we provide high-performance adhesive antifoams tailored for various industrial needs to ensure optimal foam control. Whether you’re producing water-based adhesives, pressure-sensitive adhesives, or resin emulsions, our specialized defoamers offer effective solutions to improve production efficiency and product quality.

Foam Issues in Adhesive Production

Foam formation is a common challenge in adhesive production, leading to reduced production efficiency and inconsistent product quality. Adhesive antifoams are essential for overcoming this issue by breaking down foam, ensuring a smooth manufacturing process, and improving overall adhesive properties.

Applications of Adhesive Antifoams

  • Water-Based Adhesives: Used in packaging, labels, and paper coatings.

  • Pressure-Sensitive Adhesives: Essential in the production of labels, tapes, and medical adhesives.

  • Resin Emulsions: Found in coatings, paints, and adhesives used for industrial applications.

Q: Will the defoamer weaken the bonding strength of the adhesive?
No. In fact, removing air bubbles improves the bond. Trapped air bubbles create weak spots and reduce the effective contact area between the adhesive and the substrate. Our defoamers eliminate these micro-bubbles, ensuring maximum adhesion area and stronger bonding.
Q: Can it prevent "Fish Eyes" or pinholes during coating?
Yes. This is a compatibility issue. We offer highly compatible Mineral Oil or Molecular Defoamers specifically for water-based acrylics and latex. They control foam without negatively affecting the wetting properties, ensuring a smooth, defect-free coating surface.
Q: Is it safe for food packaging adhesives? (FDA Compliance)
Yes. For lamination adhesives used in food packaging, we supply grades that strictly comply with FDA 21 CFR 175.105 (Adhesives). This ensures your final product meets international safety standards for indirect food contact.
Q: Which types of adhesives is it suitable for?
Our product range covers most industrial water-based systems, including: 1. Pressure Sensitive Adhesives (PSA) (Acrylic/Latex based). 2. Paper Converting Adhesives (Starch/Dextrin/Casein). 3. Woodworking Glues (PVAc/VAE emulsions).
Q: Can it withstand high-speed mixing or coating speeds?
Yes. Modern coating lines run at high speeds (high shear). Our defoamers are formulated with excellent shear stability, meaning they won't break down or lose efficiency even under intense mechanical agitation or pumping.
Q: Will adding defoamer change the viscosity of my glue?
Generally, no. Our defoamers are used at very low dosages (0.1% - 0.5%) and are designed to be chemically inert. However, we always recommend a compatibility test first, as some thickeners in your formula might be sensitive to specific oil-based additives.
