Project Description
Agrochemical Defoamer | Foam Control for Pesticide Formulations
Foam is a frequent problem in pesticide manufacturing and in field tank-mix blending. It slows packaging lines, causes inaccurate filling, and can reduce the performance of the active ingredient. INVINO® offers agrochemical defoamers for all the main formulation types — SC, SL, SE, EW, EC, OD, ME, WDG, WP, and DF — that keep the formulation stable in storage and compatible with the other ingredients.
Our silicone (siloxane) and non-silicone powder defoamers break down foam in surfactant-heavy formulations. They keep the product uniform through long warehouse storage, avoiding phase separation or droplet agglomeration when temperatures swing.

- Shear & Salt Endurance: Keeps suppressing foam under high-shear sand milling (SC/SE suspension concentrates) and in high-salt herbicides (glyphosate / glufosinate SL).
- Zero Phytotoxicity Risk: Modified polymers stay emulsified, so there is no floating oil slick to cause leaf spotting or crop burn during foliar spraying.
- Formulation Integrity: Compatible with active ingredients, wetters, and lignosulfonate dispersants without hurting droplet spreading.
- Regulatory Compliance: Chemically inert, low environmental impact, and supportive of crop-protection registration.
Defoamer Selection Guide by Formulation Type
| Formulation Type | Process Challenge | Chemistry & Performance | Recommended Model | Technical Files |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SL (Soluble Liquid) Glyphosate / Glufosinate Salts | High salt loading; high risk of surfactant splitting and oil spotting. | Polyether-Modified Silicone Fluid. Stable in high-surfactant tallow amine systems. Zero oil slicking to prevent foliar crop burn. | INVINO-2200 | DOWNLOAD TDS |
| SC / SE / EW Suspension Concentrates | Heavy micro-bubble entrainment during high-shear sand milling; storage syneresis. | Shear-Stable Silicone Emulsion. Resists breakdown under centrifugal sand mills and keeps uniform particle size. | INVINO-6225 | DOWNLOAD TDS |
| WDG / WP / DF Dispersible Granules & Powders | Foam on field tank-mix dilution; slow wet-out from trapped internal air. | Silicone Powder on Inert Mineral Carrier. Dry-blend friendly; speeds wetting and keeps foam down on reconstitution. | INVINO-2502 | DOWNLOAD TDS |
| Processing & Packaging Factory Filling Lines | Air entrained during pipeline transfer, recirculation, and high-speed filling valves. | Fast-Knockdown Silicone Emulsion. Spreads fast at low PPM; prevents canister overflow and secures accurate fill weights. | INVINO-370 | DOWNLOAD TDS |
Technical FAQ: Defoaming Agrochemicals & Herbicides
Will the defoamer cause phytotoxicity (crop burn) or clog spray nozzles?
A: No. Cheap, un-emulsified silicone oil separates into floating oil slicks, which focus sunlight and cause leaf spotting and crop burn. INVINO® polyether-silicone grades dissolve cleanly into the diluted spray, protecting leaves and keeping spray nozzles clear.
Is it stable in high-surfactant herbicides like glyphosate SL?
A: Yes. Glyphosate and glufosinate soluble liquids carry high salt content and heavy surfactant loading (tallow amine ethoxylates). INVINO-2200 uses crosslinked block polyethers that hold up under high ionic stress without precipitating.
What is the difference between In-Can and Tank-Mix defoamers?
A: In-can defoamers (like INVINO-6225) are added inside the formulation at the factory and must stay active through 1–2 years of storage. Tank-mix defoamers are added by farmers straight into the spray tank and must knock foam down instantly on contact.
