Project Description

Defoamers for Cutting Fluid & Metal Working Fluids

Foam is a constant problem in metal working fluids (MWF), cutting oils, and water-soluble grinding coolants. Fast fluid recirculation, high mechanical shear at CNC spray nozzles, and fine metal swarf all pull air into the fluid. Uncontrolled foam causes sump overflows, weakens cooling and lubrication, shortens fluid life, and leads to high-pressure pump cavitation.

INVINO® makes silicone emulsions and non-silicone defoamers built for fast bubble knockdown and long-lasting foam control. They stay stable through high-temperature grinding, extend fluid life and tool life, and don't interfere with tramp-oil skimming.

Solving Foam Challenges in Machining & Grinding

Lubrication Limits

The Problem: Trapped air acts as an insulator, stopping the coolant from properly cooling the workpiece and tool.

Cooling Protection
Sump & Pump Safety

The Problem: Surface foam builds up, overflows the sump, triggers downtime alarms, and causes pump cavitation.

Cavitation Control
Surface Finish & Parts

The Problem: Air pockets cause poor surface finish, dimensional errors on tight tolerances, and faster filter wear.

Tolerance Assurance
Maintenance Costs

The Problem: Heavy foam speeds up additive depletion, causes early rancidity, and raises biocide and top-up costs.

Fluid Longevity

Q&A: Precision Control for Metalworking Fluids

Q: Will it affect downstream painting or plating (silicone spots / cratering)?

A: Raw silicone oil can separate over long storage and cause craters on painted or plated parts. Our emulsions are precisely dispersed and stay uniform, so they do not cause coating defects or plating pinholes after machining.

Q: Can it defoam "fully synthetic" grinding fluids?

A: Yes. Fully synthetic fluids are surfactant-heavy and make very stable foam. INVINO-M602 is a silicone micro-emulsion that collapses foam fast even in clear, non-mineral coolants.

Q: Is it stable under high-pressure CNC spraying?

A: Yes. High-speed nozzles create heavy shear that breaks ordinary emulsions into oil clots. INVINO-M780 uses cross-linked silicone chains to keep controlling foam under continuous high shear.

Q: Will the defoamer clog the fine filters?

A: No. Poorly dispersed particles or heavy hydrophobic carriers can blind paper filter bands. Our actives stay well below standard micro-filtration sizes, keeping flux uninterrupted.

Q: Does it interfere with tramp oil skimmers?

A: No. INVINO-M066 acts only at the gas-liquid interface and does not emulsify the leaked tramp oil into the coolant, so the skimmer keeps separating it normally.
